Personal Water Usage Kit
Harris Chapman
22 January 2019 - 2:40 PM A device to measure how much water you use (i.e. from taps), a wearable to measure sweat and an app to record everything. The app gives you a daily water allowance based on how much someone like you should normally consume. Water decision enabling notification tool
Natalia Jawiarczyk
22 January 2019 - 2:38 PM Decision enabling notification tool can help the users to safe the water by providing the real time data to the users about their real time water spending. The system can be implemented in households, factories and public purpose establishments like schools, hospitals, etc. The data is provided from sensors located at input and/ or output of the pipes and fed to the users (humans or machines) in real time. The user then can make decision 'reduce or re-use'. In addition the collected data can be stored and used for machine learning and to create the statistics that can help to understand individuals' habits and to show how implementing some custom changes the water spending can be reduced or re-purposed. For example in households water from showers could be used for heating purposes, in factories processed water could be used in cooling. Knowing the user water cycle can be used to smart plan the re-usage/ re-purposing of their water.

Water Efficiency in Tourism
Energieagentur Freiburg
04 December 2018 - 0:56 PM Our home region Black Forest is extremely vulnerable to climate change and draught. Summer 2018 was an extremely dry summer and had strong impact on water supply for the people, animals, nature and economy. As tourism is one of the biggest water-consumers in the region we want to prove, that technical solutions and small behvioural changes in this business could have big influence on a more sustainable water management. This would 1. save water resources in the region, 2. save energy for water heating and thus slow down climate change and 3. make the economical backbone of the region more resilient. Plus, tourism would be a great multiplier of the message. We would start with few concrete examples and spread the idea over the whole region and bevond - favourable in partnership with another concerned region. WasserTourismus.pdf - [475,02Kb]

Data-Driven Residential Water Behavioural change
Halid
29 November 2018 - 3:31 PM This idea seeks to harness residential water end-use data using IOT technology and other implicit behaviour capturing techniques. This data will be stored in the cloud and then segmented in accordance with a pre-defined set of household characteristics (taxonomy). The data will then be processed and analysed and fed back to the households via an engagement mechanism (app dashboard etc). The analysed data will be presented in an engaging, interactive, visualised, actualised and contextualised form to reflect the households' impact on the environment. The aim is to create an effective feedback loop that will perpetuate water saving behaviour on the part of the user. idea.pdf - [128,79Kb]

Conceptual Proposal - Public Policy - Program for Conservation, Rational Use and Reuse of Water in Buildings.
Juliano Pavan
18 November 2018 - 5:17 PM The proposal is divided into two parts: 1. Control and Inspection of Waste; 2. Conservation, Rational Use and Water Reuse. In summary, water management should be done initially by reducing waste, conserving and rational use of water (a set of actions that promote water saving), using alternative sources (a set of actions that allow the use of other sources to water supply other than the public supply system) and re-use of water used for non-potable purposes. Attached is a brief description of the proposal. CONCEPTUAL PROJECT - Public Policy for Water Management.docx - [18,26Kb]

ButIf
zbuzi
02 November 2018 - 4:18 PM ButIf is an app that gives you the opportunity to track your daily actions, like buying groceries, taking a shower, using the bicycle. According to these actions it shows their environmental impact. The goal is to increase the environmental awareness and increase the daily habits towards a less carbon dioxide or water consumptive lifestyle. Starting from a status quo a user tracks his habits in different categories (e.g. transportation, food). Based on this the app then suggest actions towards a less consumptive lifestyle. Another feature is showing actions users with a similar profile(neighborhood, behaviour). When you track your events, the app will suggest actions: "You bought 300g of meat. The production of meat costs X Liter of water and produces Y kg of CO2. BUTIF you have one shower less this weak you save the water the meat production wasted, and take the bike to work once more to regain the CO2". The app has a two point system: private and public environmental points. To earn public points the actions have to verified. This can happen via scanning bills or take part in official events, or by an apple watch which proofs that you used the bike. The public points can be used as a donation or traded at supported shopping platforms. Private points include the public points and also all the non verified ones. The app has a history where the user can see if he/she increased to previous days. This will also be supported by visual and sound rewards.

Carboncy Printure (Carbon currency food print picture)
Michael Bakman
02 November 2018 - 4:10 PM My idea relies on a digital currency based on the amount of carbon dioxid you can save (Carbon footprint is calculated and shared). It is realised via an mobile app and various gadgets, devices and sensors connceted with your smartphone. The user can upload specific pictures, videos, data, scanned QR-codes of bought products or in this case the amount of water saved or the duration of showering time. Based on that the algorithm calculates the carbon one saves and displays the "Carboncy" (digital currency). To earn more "Carboncy" you get hints, videos and information from this the platform or from friends submitting exceptional approaches or strategies on this platform. Furthermore you can use the "Carboncy" to purchase different products, vouchers or services from the partaking partners. Eventually you can compare your earned "Carboncy" with those of your friends and always get inspired to do more to stop climate change and water scarcity.

Scan the water!
leeno
02 November 2018 - 3:57 PM My project helps to raise awareness of the water footprint of the production of everyday products, clothes, shoes etc (i.e. how water-intensive the production process is?) The project is in the form of an app, where the user is scanning a barcode or a QR code of a product, using only their smartfone. After scanning the barcode there are results shown with the amounth of water, used in the production of the good. Regarding the levels of the used water, there are two possible options for the user - If the water footprint is high, a similar product, but with lower levels of water-intensivity in the production will be suggested - If the water footprint is low, there will be point rewarded Based on the amount of the rewarded points, users could receive discounts in local stores, bike shops or for enviormentaly friendly products. Additionaly, this app tracks the progress daily and rewards the persistance of the user with additional points. So much water could be saved, while using the better lifestyle!

WeHelpGreen
ana.grimaldo
02 November 2018 - 3:53 PM WeHelpGreen is an app that helps people to manage the use of water in a responsible way. The main is to engage people to keep connected and to get awards by doing some activities to save water. People have a profile but also can belong to a group to do more activites. When a person do some activity, they can share in the app by adding some evidence like a photo or video. Once people do it, they get some points. As much points as they have, they can contribute also with the comunity. As an award, people help virtual animals such as ducks; therefore, the app will show you a lake and you can see the ducks and the name of the person who help that duck to be alive. The app also lets you go in competition with other groups for example schools and get some awards such as some events to help them to learn and share more ideas about saving water. In addition, people can see some trees to grow up by saving some water. As a reward they can plant a real tree in some specific place in your community and you can see a map in the app where your tree is planted. At the end, it could help to engage more people to feel they to save water and help the nature at the same time.
